Africa’s development agenda is shaped by a convergence of global, continental, and national frameworks. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a universal blueprint for addressing poverty, inequality, environmental degradation, violence, and weak institutions. At the continental level, the African Union’s Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want articulates a long-term vision for an integrated, prosperous, and peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens. In South Africa, the National Development Plan (NDP) 2030 sets out a strategic pathway toward eliminating poverty, reducing inequality, strengthening state capacity, and building a capable developmental state.
